Did you know that over 129 million people are becoming attracted to all the social media that is available to everyone? Over 91% of adults in they go online to one of these social media sites per month. There is some good communication going on between themselves and their kids.
Social media is a contributing factor helping with any connections needed with brands, companies, or any individual—which is becoming or has become a useful tool in today’s culture. The social media (consumer-trend magazine) has just revealed this in the last year.
The percentages climb even higher with the 18 to 24 years old users. A whopping 98% are using social media to connect up with friends, and highly needed information for their age groups. Using mobile phones is another added source to connect with any social media –Facebook, twitter, and others.
It is no surprise that the 65 plus have caught on too! With 49 percent adding social media to their everyday lives—it is becoming a viable way of staying connected, plus enjoying all the benefits that the social media offers to every age group. As we speak, the usage of these social media resources, it rises as each day passes. For instance, in 2009 it was up 15% more than the year before.
Keeping track of the whereabouts of kids can be somewhat frightening if you are out of town or doing errands. With all these social media tools that are available for parents and children alike, it gives somewhat of a security issue and lets both parties stay in touch, so to speak, and keeps the communication lines open. Which is extremely needed, considering when you listen to any new reports.
Hopefully, with the social media connection, families will not lose the personal connection and still have time to talk in person or around the dinner table. Personal communications is becoming a rare commodity with most families and have become a lost art to some, but maybe, with the social media and the acceptance of these types of communication it will open up the “dinner conversation” and make it easier for everyone to speak their minds. Who knows!
Hispanic online users seem to be more drawn to using Twitter (about 18 percent), while most college students and online adults seem to enjoy Facebook. Either one seems to be keeping social media exposure wide open for their enjoyment.
What this is saying is social media has become a social phenomenon with any age group. It keeps the communication lines open and isn’t that what most of us really want?
